Every organization head often states running a global tour is far from standard office hours.

Newly appointed Women's Tennis Association (WTA) leader Valerie Camillo understands long hours in her previous roles - notably in a strategic role with a brand management group that operates American celebrated artist Dolly Parton's entertainment venues.

In addition to the expertise regarding Parton's business interests, Camillo steps into the leadership of women's tennis with a wealth of experience throughout athletics and show business, with past roles in key executive jobs at the world's premier basketball league, the premier ice hockey competition and Major League Baseball (MLB).

Camillo commences her leadership position at the WTA this November, taking over from the veteran Steve Simon, whose 10-year tenure concludes as he steps down.

When Camillo takes charge later this month, she takes over of several key issues previously handled by her predecessor.

Simon drew praise two years ago after making a principled decision by halting WTA events in China.

The potential of the WTA merging commercial assets together with ATP is still being negotiated, with the two governing bodies apparently recognizing the importance of unification regarding media, commercial and marketing arrangements.

Today's divided situation regularly leaves supporters and backers confused and disillusioned.

Significantly, the management of professional tennis faced opposition through legal action by athlete representatives, raising concerns about both organizations overlooking player welfare.

Leadership understands the clear benefit of partnering alongside the financially stronger ATP, yet the new chair aims to avoid the women's circuit being marginalized in key negotiations and promotional activities as a result.

Addressing worries concerning tournament dates and player burnout is a key focus area.

Given she leads she leads both the players and tournaments, she must consider the requirements of both parties and achieve compromise increasing income and athlete welfare creating that revenue.

Camillo's familiarity with the commercial sophistication of America's biggest sports - notably approaches to audience expansion and attract investment using new ideas - considered a key reason in her selection.

Her move into women's tennis arrives during "a moment of accelerated growth and opportunity"according to the organization.

Currently represents in female athletics. Revenue generated throughout female athletics last year exceeded one billion dollars and industry experts predict it will hit $2.5bn (£1.8bn) by 2030.

Her primary objective will be to ensure the organization and athletes - featuring Coco Gauff, Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek - secure substantial portion from the growth.

"In women's competitions, funding, viewership and coverage are increasing exponentially.

"The WTA faces distinct circumstances - having established legacy, possessing remarkable tradition, massive worldwide audience, and among the most recognized, highest-paid competitors worldwide."
